About R&D Office

The Office of Research and Development, located in Building C, Room 101, consists of two divisions: “Academic Research & Extension Education” and “International Affairs & Career Development. ”Our overall duties include Research Projects, On-the-Job Training Program, Certificate and License Recognition, International Student Exchange, Study Abroad Program and Career Services for students.

The vision of the Office of Research and Development, in terms of Division of Academic Research & Extension Education, is to promote academic research and development at STUT. To achieve the goal, we actively encourage our teaching faculty to apply for all types of academic research projects and patents. In addition, students are motivated to take skill examinations, obtain professional licenses and participate in national and international competitions during their studies at STUT. With the concept of social responsibility and serving the general public without gaining profits, the division coordinates school’s teachers and faculty plus soft and hardware and provides a wide range of professional and nonprofessional training programs and courses for working adults to pursue further education. Through the extension education, we strengthen university, industry, government and academia’s technical exchange. Three main areas, Innovation, development and personnel training are what we constantly work on in this division.

In terms of International Affairs & Career Development, we have successfully set up a friendly Chinese-English bilingual learning environment. We not only eagerly encourage STUT faculty to conduct their classes in English, but also work on recruiting more international students to study at STUT. This year, we have up to 100 international students study with us. The Chinese Language Center has established since December 2004 to serve the needs of these international students and other non-Chinese speakers off campus. As for international exchange, the collaboration carried out with our oversea partners includes faculty and student exchange. We regularly invite scholars from abroad for academic lectures and classroom presentations. A variety of “Study Abroad Programs” are also available for both of our undergraduate and graduate students. Concerning the Career Services in this division, we aim to assist our students with making career decisions and life planning by holding Career Fairs twice a year and inviting distinguished individuals to share their life and career experiences. A survey on the employment rate and employer's satisfaction is also conducted annually to collect important data for each department to re-evaluate its curriculum and course structure.
